The more complicated a project is, the greater the benefits of using this tool.
APT helps you to work on a complicated task by providing a means of recording it as separate subtasks. This enables you to think through one specific area of the work at a time, but without losing sight of the main task.

APT is easy to use. The first time it is run it opens an example Project which gives some basic information on how to use it and how to create your own projects.
APT is extremely flexible in terms of the range of subjects it can be used on. The program can be used to organize any work you are doing. This can include work that is actually being implemented on a computer or in the real world, or a mixture of both. It can be used as a textual version of a Mind Map program ; a document editor; a tool to access existing work, and a progress monitor with quality controls.
It is very easy to track progress while developing a project. The user can set the state of any item of work in the project to 'Not Started', 'Started' or 'Completed'. Traffic light icons are used to show which state the item of work is in. A Project Overview automatically reflects the effective overall state of sections of the Project's content. The program automatically changes the lights to indicate when a part of the project is completely finished.
Quality issues often become apparent while you are working on some other task. It is important that these don't get forgotten while you are concentrating on that task. APT provides a quick way of recording each issue separately, and an easy way to navigate back to them later to resolve them. Their effect on progress is automatically included with normal Progress Monitoring.
